Many people think, the more you pay for a product, the better it must be. Well, of course, there’s an element of truth in this. But when you look at the skincare market, there are some outrageous prices being charged for some very mediocre products. In fact, the main selling point of many of these big-name brands is that a celebrity has endorsed them.
Does the celebrity actually use the products? Who knows. But one thing we do know, the celebrity will have received a huge amount of money to endorse the product and the company will be paying an even larger amount to buy ongoing advertising. All this, of course, is added to the price of the product.
A large amount of the (hefty) price you pay, ends up in the pockets of a celebrity, advertising agencies and media organizations. When you analyse what these big-name products actually contain, they’re incredibly over-priced.

When setting our prices, we looked at what it actually costs us to manufacture our products. Then we added a fair profit margin. Nothing more. We didn’t simply look at the maximum possible price we thought the market could stand (like many skincare companies do). We knew we could have charged a lot more. In fact, most business gurus would have advised us to target the top end of the market. Our products are certainly good enough.
So why didn’t we? Well, there are two reasons. First, we are selling our products almost exclusively online. So we don’t have the huge overheads, advertising costs for TV, magazines and other media (and celebrity endorsements) that many other companies have.
Second, and even more importantly, we decided we wanted to make our products available to as many people as possible. We are in for tougher economic times and we feel that it is only ethical to price products fairly so they can be as affordable as possible. (This is exactly the same philosophy we follow with our nutritional products.)
